New Short Story

A little bit of news, well, quite a nice large slice really. Jack Dann and my short story, The Transformation of Targ, has been bought by Jonathan Strahan for the anthology 'Eclipse: New Science Fiction & Fantasy', to be published by Night Shade Books in United States. Jack and I wrote the story last year, after nobbing with the idea whilst sitting in a coffee shop in Melbourne. It's an odd little bird, kind of a spoof on the whole 'Evil Overlord' theme that is so rife in fantasy stories. I'll stick up publishing details as I have them.

The Next Novel

Well the third book has been finished and is currently undergoing surgical exploration with my editor Jack Dann's red pen. At the moment, it's called Rambling House, and it's sort of about being in a Celtic band, but it also has an 18th century Cornish backstory and the usual smattering of the fantastic. I think I described it the other day as 'Roddy Doyle meets Daphne du Maurier and they go off for a drink in Faerieland'.

I'm back to work on the next story, which has the working title of 'Rookwood'. And as is usual, I only have an inkling at the moment of what it's about, but it's been tickling me for a while now, so that has to be a good thing.
